Scientific publication in the Revista Científica Estudiantil UNIMED on obstetrics and gynecology topics

Introduction: Revista Científica Estudiantil UNIMED is one of the national references for undergraduate scientific activity. The publication of articles referring to Obstetrics and Gynecology takes on greater relevance given the priority the specialty is for the Cuban health system and researchers. Objective: to characterize the scientific production in Revista Científica Estudiantil UNIMED on Obstetrics and Gynecology topics. Method: observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study, of bibliometric type, in the period from January 2019 to December 2022 in Revista Científica Estudiantil UNIMED. The population consisted of 7 articles on Obstetrics and Gynecology topics and was worked on in its entirety. The variables analyzed were: year of publication, number of authors, nationality of authors, institution of origin according to main author, type of article, number of citations, characteristics of bibliographic references, Price index. Descriptive statistics measures and bibliometric indicators were applied. Results: 2020 was the year with the highest publication (4; 57.14%). The University of Medical Science of Santiago de Cuba was the institution with the highest production (3; 42.85%). Articles with multiple authorship predominated (7; 100%). Original articles represented 71.42 % (n=5), obtained the highest number of citations and updated bibliographic references. The Price index was between 0.49 and 0.72. Conclusions: Revista Científica Estudiantil UNIMED has a low scientific production on Obstetrics and Gynecology issues. The originality, multi-authorship and updating of the cited references characterize the publication on these topics in the scientific journal.
