Abstract

Introduction: within cardiac pathologies, ischemic heart disease is characterized by a high incidence of diseases related to atherosclerosis. Objective: to characterize women with ischemic heart disease treated in the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit of the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital, January - November 2023. Method: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out on a group of patients. women with Ischemic Heart Disease treated at the Abel Santamaría Hospital. The study universe was made up of 125 patients with a diagnosis of Ischemic Heart Disease; no sampling techniques were applied, so we worked with the entire universe. Results: the most representative age group was 70 and 79 years old, with 42 women (33.6%). Before the ischemic event, 88 women (70.4%) had a diagnosis of arterial hypertension. Unstable Angina predominated with a representation of 91 women (72.8%). Heart Failure predominated as a complication in 7 women (33.3%). The minority of patients 6 (4.8%) had a low mortality rate. Conclusions: The most affected age group was 70 and 79 years, high blood pressure was the most prevalent comorbidity, hospitalized patients with a final diagnosis of Unstable Angina was the most frequent, Heart Failure was the main complication and the minority of patients. showed a low mortality rate.
