Conocimiento acerca de sexualidad en estudiantes de primer año de Medicina en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Manzanillo, Granma

- Introduction: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sexuality is defined as: a fundamental aspect of the human condition, present throughout life and encompasses sex, identities, gender roles, sexual orientation, eroticism, pleasure, intimacy and reproduction. The lack of information about sexuality at a global level, the diversity of groups vulnerable to contagion of sexually transmitted diseases in today's Cuban society and the limited access to means of protection, motivate the realization of this study. Objective: to determine the level of knowledge about sexuality in adolescent medical students. Method: a descriptive, observational, prospective, cross-sectional study was carried out between the months of April and May of the year 2025, whose sample consisted of 20 first-year medical students at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Manzanillo. Results: the level of knowledge that predominated was good in 11 female students and 6 male students and in 14 students of urban origin; among the males surveyed, the highest level of knowledge regarding the concept of sexuality was found, while among the females, the highest level of knowledge regarding the concept of early pregnancy was found. Conclusions: Good knowledge predominated among females and in the indicators of the concept of sexuality and early pregnancy.
