Abstract

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal mortality, linked to psychosomatic factors such as stress and anxiety, which exacerbate its symptoms. This article proposes hypnosis as a non-pharmacological, adjunct tool for the comprehensive management of this condition. The reviewed evidence demonstrates that hypnosis significantly reduces anxiety and blood pressure in women with preeclampsia, with sustained effects. Furthermore, it is suggested that its mechanism of action could involve modulation of the autonomic nervous system and neuroendocrine changes, beyond a mere placebo effect.
