Introduction: neoplasms of the cervix are one of the most common malignant entities and the highest mortality in the world. Objective: to characterize the risk factors related to cervical cancer in women over 45 years of age. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was conducted on the risk factors of cervical cancer in patients over 45 years of age treated at the Gynecobstetric Hospital Fe del Valle Ramos, in the period from April 2018 to April 2021. The study included patients diagnosed with this condition by histology, obtaining a universe of 35 cases. Because of the need for research, we worked with 100 % of the study population. Results: the ages of 55 to 64 years were the predominant (48,6 %). The 45,7 % of patients had 1-2 pregnancies and 48,6 % had 3 or more abortions. Most of the patients were single. (68,6 %) used oral contraceptives (65,7 %) and had more than three partners The sexually transmitted infection that prevailed was due to Human Papillomavirus (67,1 %). (95,2 %). Conclusions: cervical cancer is prevalent in the ages of 55 to 64 years and its fundamental risk factors are: human papillomavirus infection, use of oral contraceptives, high number of abortions, promiscuity, multiparity, smoking.Downloads
