Introduction: Vitiligo is the most common skin depigmentation disorder worldwide. It is an acquired hypomelanosis characterized by the progressive appearance of asymptomatic achromic or hypochromic macules in different regions of the body.
Objective: To characterize patients with vitiligo at the Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Hospital.
Method: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted to characterize the behavior of patients diagnosed with vitiligo, attending the outpatient clinic of the Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Clinical and Surgical Hospital, from September 2023 to June 2024. The sample consisted of the 30 patients over 18 years of age seen at that clinic.
Results: Females predominated in 60% of cases, and the age ranges of 30-39 and 40-49 were present in 26.7% of cases. The most prevalent risk factor was stress, in 40% of cases.
Conclusions: Vitiligo primarily affects women, and the age groups 30-39 and 40-49 have an average progression time of 1-5 years.
